Protecting Your Assets Seminar

Start: Apr 23 2009 - 10:00am
End: Apr 23 2009 - 11:30am

Rock Island Public Library will offer a free seminar on “Asset Protection for Seniors,” on Thursday, April 23 at 10 a.m. in the Main Library Community Room. The seminar, from attorney Melissa L. Uzzell, of Jamieson Long & Associates Elder Law Firm, will focus on retaining records, dealing with “zombie debt” and other strategies to protect your finances. Zombie debt is old debt purchased by collection agencies, often for pennies on the dollar. This event is open to all adults as the tips can help anyone protect their money.

Jamieson Long & Associates is a Moline-based law practice that helps older and disabled clients to navigate the complexities of today's legal and health care systems. Uzzell assists clients with the legal aspects of their long-term care planning. This event is free and open to the public. Bettendorf, Davenport and Moline Libraries are also participating in Money Smart Week. For the full list of events available, visit http://www.moneysmartweek.org/quadcities or call your local library.

Coordinated by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and more than 25 local partners from business, education and non-profit associations, Money Smart Week is designed to educate consumers about money management and create awareness of financial education programs on a wide range of topics such as budgeting, saving and using credit wisely.
