What do I need to use downloadable services?

• A valid Rock Island Library card
• Internet access
• A compatible computer or device
• Free software available from Overdrive - Adobe Digital Editions (for e-Books), OverDrive Media Console v2 (for smart phones), Overdrive Media Console (for audiobooks).  The Kindle does not require additional software.

Tip for Rock Island Cardholders: Sign into 'My Account' Before You Start Browsing!  Because we subscribe to OverDrive Advantage, certain titles are only accessible to patrons with a Rock Island barcode. If you don’t login first, you won’t see all of the titles. Logging in first may add hundreds of titles to your search!

The Rock Island Library subscribes to OverDrive through the Online Media of Northern Illinois buying group, known as Omni Libraries. Click the OverDrive icon and use the drop-down menu under 'sign in" to see if your library is a member. If so, and you have a valid library card from that library, you can use this service.
