Teens going into 8th through 12th grades can learn how to better draw faces and hands in this four-day workshop with artist Gloria Burlingame. Working from manniquins and photos, you'll learn basic structures and proportions. Create value in your pictures with shadings that add a 3D look. Must register - call 732-7360. Sign up your kids to read with a dog and practice their reading skills at the Rock Island Library Children's area, Main Library, 401 19th Street. Families can stop in anytime during the event to read in 15 to 20 minute increments with a therapy dog and handler from PAW'D (Pups Assisting with the Disabled.) Having a dog to read helps kids relax and build reading skills. Free. Call 732-7360 to sign up.
