Deck the Ornament and celebrate the official beginning of the holiday season with an ornament making session at your Main Library. Tuesday, December 1, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Rock Island Library Community Room, 401 19th Street. Free. Ages 11 to 18.

Enjoy a good movie at the Main Rock Island Public Library. Each month a significant Independent Film will be shown in the Community Room of the Main Library–401 19th Street–in downtown Rock Island. All showings will begin at 6:00 p.m. They are free and open to the public. This month’s feature is “In Love We Trust (China, 115 min). A divorced couple learns that the only way to save their little daughter Hehe, who suffers from a blood disease, is to have another child. Now both remarried, Mei Zhu and Xiao Lu are forced to test their love and their commitment to one another by putting their current relationships in danger. A story of parenthood, love, married life, betrayal, trust and giving, which touches upon changes in contemporary society and family life, as well as the moral and ethical dilemmas brought on by modernity. Please be advised that none of these films are rated and some may not be suitable for children.

Cinnamon Spice

For ages Pre-K - 3rd grade at the Main Library.

Start the holidays by making cinnamon ornaments, hearing holiday stories and decorating cookies.

This group meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the Community Room.  We welcome all skill levels of knitters and crocheters. 

Join the Teen Book Club to talk about your favorites and new books! 

This month, we meet at the Main Library, 401 19th St, on the 2nd floor.  Open ages 11-18

Monarch Mondays

Grades- K-3rd

Dates:  December 14th-  "Scaredy Squirrel"

              Each title is from the 2010 Monarch Award list which is an Illinois Children's Choice Award. 

              Enjoy the story and craft.

The Library Board of Trustees meets on the third Tuesday of each month from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. in the Library Director's office. The public may address the board at the beginning of each meeting.
