"Wood and Words", a unique combination of two and three-dimensional artist works by Amy Nielsen and Bill Wohlford is the featured show at the Rock Island Public Library, during September and October. The show will be open for viewing between Sept. 10 and Oct. 30, 2010. A collaborative, signature piece done expressly for this show combines a contemporary blend of realism, expressionism and the beauty of the written word in a work titled "A World of Words". Open to the public during library hours, the show is on the second floor rotunda of the Main Library, 401 19th Street, Rock Island. Start: 3:00 pm
End: 4:00 pm
The Alpha Book Club will be discussing "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," by Stieg Larsson, in October. All meetings are at Main Library. No registration required; just read the book and show up! Meetings from October-December are on the first Monday of each month. Start: 5:30 pm
