Hannah Maynard, prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal in The Hague, is leading a trial against a former commander of the Yugoslavian National Army who is accused of the deportation and later killing of dozens of Bosnian-Muslim civilians. When a key witness commits suicide, it looks like the case will unravel, however Hannah refuses to give in. Hoping to uncover new findings, she travels to the witness' burial in Sarajevo and meets his sister Mira who she senses has much more to say than she is willing to admit. Despite threats of violence, Mira reluctantly agrees to testify at The Hague. However, she and Hannah must both risk life and limb to make it to the court, only to discover that there are traitors among their own ranks. | ||

Smith teaches Studio Art at Augustana College and is the Director & Instructor for the Kaleidoscope children's art program.
Her work consists of mixed media collage works created using layers of acrylic paint and handmade papers. Her compositions are a contemporary blend of stylized organic and geometric shapes, rich in color and texture.
The exhibit is open for viewing during regular library hours.

This year's Frieze Lecture Series celebrates the 150th anniversary of Augustana College. The annual lecture series partnership allows library guests to explore fascinating topics from Augustana College lecturers without tests or grades! On Nov. 11, Sherry C. Maurer, director of the Augustana Art Museum, will speak on treasures of the college's art collection. Each free lecture starts at 2 p.m. at the Rock Island Main Library, and includes coffee and conversation afterwards.
