How can I be scammed?

Let me count the ways…home repairs or improvements, phishing email letters, car repairs, identity theft, computer viruses, super low-priced special sales, mail order products, used car sales, cons targeting senior citizens  (Seniors are a frequent target of a wide range of consumer fraud scams.)
There must be a bazillion bad actors out there.

Stay alert! Be informed! To make sure you are not a victim, join the Rock Island Public Library as we host a presentation in conjunction with the Illinois State Attorney’s office about the most common scams targeting Illinois residents and how you can report them.

Learn to:
• Recognize common scams and their many variations
• Set up fraud alerts, security freezes, and opt-outs
• Report scams and manage the situation

This event is free and open to all audiences, and will be led by a representative of the Illinois Attorney General's Office.
