The Seed Library Is Open!

The Seed Library is open for the 2023 growing season! Seeds are available, as supplies last, at the Downtown Library, 401 19th Street, until September. You may pick out five seed packets per household, per month, no library card required.

RIPL Cardholders Are Fine Free in '23!

With a new year comes new policies, including the launch of Rock Island Public Library’s new fine-free policy for RIPL cardholders. As a result, late fines for Rock Island Public Library (RIPL) cardholders will be mostly a thing of the past.

RIPL's 150th Anniversary

2022 marks the start of our 150th year as a public library, and that’s a great reason to celebrate! The Rock Island Public Library began November 25, 1872, the first in Illinois to actually open for business after the passing of the 1872 Illinois Local Library Act.
