The Rock Island Public Library is proud to be able to make NewsBank available to its patrons and, through its library online services, to the larger community.
What is NewsBank?  How can it be used?
NewsBank, inc. has been a premiere provider of the world's largest repository of reliable information for more than 50 years. Since October 4, 1972, its comprehensive resources have met the diverse research needs of public libraries, colleges and universities, schools, military and government libraries, and professionals around the world.
NewsBank consolidates current and archived information from thousands of newspaper titles, as well as newswires, web editions, blogs, videos, broadcast transcripts, business journals, periodicals, government documents and other publications. Using these online resources, researchers in libraries around the world can easily explore tens of millions of current and archived news articles and obituaries in order to pinpoint information from primary sources at the local, state, regional, national and international levels.
This presentation will get you acquainted with NewsBank's great value for research of many kinds, including history, genealogy, political science, and other current events. If there are students in your family--from grade school to college--they will certainly  benefit by having access to this great resource.
Plan to attend this seminar--both for yourself and for anyone you can share the experience with.
   Registration is not required.
