Healthy Cents Series:
In this class, we will come together to gain knowledge and share ideas to help us navigate our budgets, specifically around our food costs. Through building the framework for developing your personal food budget, you will gain ideas and tips that can easily guide you through your whole budget. Money is one of those things that can cause a load of stress. Whether you are a budgeting pro or someone who has yet to start your own, you are welcome to join in on creating an environment where we can come together, swap ideas and information, or even just to make time for you to work on the topic.
August 12th | 1pm: Developing a Spending Plan- In this class, we will discuss the components of a budget and take time building our own.
September 9th | 1pm: Food Budgeting Made Easy- In this session, we will focus on our food expenses and talk about how realistic our budget is or can be. We will also discuss the strategies we can use to manage our budgets for what we need.
October 14th | 1pm: Making Choices Between Food Needs and Food Wants- building off of last class, we will focus on our needs and wants, how we can stretch our food, and discuss ways to balance our spending. We will also try to make some goals to work on.
November 11th | 1pm: Unit Pricing- In this class, we will tackle how to find the unit price of products and discuss the benefits of using this skill at the store.
December 9th | 1pm: Grocery Shopping Strategies- In this lesson, we will look at the layout of a standard grocery store and discuss how to navigate it better.
January 13th | 1pm: Meal Planning- We will be taking time to think about how we might already meal plan and discuss some new ideas to try at home.
February 10th | 1pm: Saving Away from Home- Eating out is something we all do, on occasion, or just out of convenience at work all day. In class, we will discuss a mindset for eating out that keeps our budget in mind.
