Watts-Midtown Driveway Work

Work begins soon on repairing the driveway leading into our Watts-Midtown Branch and the RI YMCA. When weather allows work to start, please note that there will be only one lane in and out of the parking lot. Please alternate when entering or leaving the lot, and note that there is no left hand turn onto the drive off 30th Street.

Remember that you can return items to any Rock Island Library, even if it was checked out at the branch. Thank you for your patience as the YMCA repairs this driveway.

Have you ever wondered why the bees and butterflies hang around certain plants and not others? Have you ever thought about where a bird finds over 300 caterpillars a day just to feed themselves? Have you ever thought about the role that pollinators play in our garden?

Welcome to Introduction to Native Plants! In this session, we will learn the answers to those questions and many more! Native plants have been alive for thousands of years and our lives depend on them! Find out the role of native plants in the ecosystem and what you can do in your OWN garden to ensure the survival and health of our ecosystem, by planting native plants.

Becki Wells is the Co-President of Quad Cities Wild Ones, after founding the Chapter in 2021. She is a gardening enthusiast and spends hours on her native plants. She also raises monarch, red admiral, and question mark butterflies.  She lives in Port Byron with her husband Wes, who is also an avid gardener, and plants a huge vegetable garden each year.
