Painting is completed at our Southwest Branch, but we're still putting things back! Our Children's Area at Southwest will be unavailable for browsing until Tuesday, Dec. 16. If you need something from that area, please ask staff for assistance.

Event Details

The Lantern Parade returns to one of its original locations - Longview Park! Join the Library and the Rock Island Parks and Recreation Department for a Party in the Park, featuring hotdogs and popcorn (while they last,) games, a bounce house, community organizations, and the finale, the illuminated Walking Lantern Parade!

Make a cardboard lantern before the event and walk as a group, family, or individual. 

Free cardboard boxes and instructions will be available at the Rock Island Downtown Library.  Supplies to make a paper lantern will be available night of the event.  

Please note: If you make your own lantern before the event, we suggest using a battery-operated light source to illuminate it.
