Painting at Southwest

Painting is completed at our Southwest Branch, but we're still putting things back! Our Children's Area at Southwest will be unavailable for browsing until Tuesday, Dec. 16. If you need something from that area, please ask staff for assistance.

Event Details

Making cardboard lanterns was a treasured summer activity for generations in Rock Island. The lighted lantern parade is back again for the 3rd year as part of the Party in the Park! Make a lantern and join us at Hodge Park. After fun at the park party, gather at 6:45 pm to walk around the new Hodge Park trail. All ages welcome, no reservation required. 

Rock Island Parks and Recreation will offer face painting, balloon animals, a ribbon cutting for the new Hodge Park trail, and more fun!

Need help remembering how to make a lantern? See the supply list and instructions. Didn't get a chance to make one in advance? Drop by the library tables at the Party in the Park to make a simple paper bag lantern. 

Both the Party and the Lantern Parade are free and open to all.
