Freedom to Read 'em Book Club -- Go Ask Alice

This month's book club title is, "Go Ask Alice," by Anonymous/Beatrice Sparks.
   It is the story of a drug dependent teen who, at the age of 15, was served a soft drink laced with LSD in a dangerous party game. Within months, she was hooked, trapped in a downward spiral of drug addictions that took her from her comfortable home and loving family to the mean streets of an unforgiving city. It was a journey that would rob her of her innocence, her youth -- and ultimately her life.
   Attributed to "Anonymous", the book is in diary form, and was originally presented as being the edited actual diary of the unnamed teenage protagonist.
   Now an older book, copies are nonetheless available downtown at the Rock Island Public Library and through our library system.
