100 Forgotten Things From 1950s America and The True Meaning of Thanksgiving (a 1951 clip)

Those who experienced the 1950s in America, will want to reminisce with a couple of videos that bring the 1950s back to life.  Younger viewers may be curious to glimpse into that era 75 years ago. There is certainly nostalgia, but here viewers will find a pretty accurate picture of how people lived in the United States during that decade.

The first 37 minute video is: "100 Forgotten Things From 1950s America"
Here is a review of daily life, popular culture, small-town diners, Sunday dinners, drive-ins, and door-to-door milk deliveries--things America has now left behind.

The second video is shorter [13 minutes].  This 1951 PSA film carries the title, "A Day of Thanksgiving: The True Meaning of Thanksgiving"
It relates the experiences of a middle-class American family when they are stimulated to review the things for which they are thankful.
Bill Johnson, a garage mechanic, came home from work on the day before Thanksgiving to find his kids disheartened by their mother's announcement that the family could not afford a turkey for the holiday. Shocked at his oldest son's statement that there won't be much to be thankful for, Bill gently reminds him and the other children that while turkey on Thanksgiving is a great American tradition, its presence sometimes obscures the real meaning of Thanksgiving.
