Big News! Downtown Restroom Renovation

1st floor restrooms (on the main floor) of our Downtown Library will be unavailable for a few months due to major renovations.

Ground Floor restrooms (off the accessible entrance and Children's Room) and 2nd floor public restrooms will be available during all library hours. 

Microfilm services are available on the table across from the Reference Desk.

Thanks to a special summer reading partnership with Metro, fares will be waived for youth riding transit to Illinois Quad Cities public libraries this summer. East Moline, Moline, Rock Island and Silvis are all offering their own summer reading and event programs.

The four Illinois Quad Cities libraries have partnered with Metro to allow children from ages 4 to 12 to use a valid library card as their fare when traveling to and from several library locations between June 1st and July 31st. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult, and will have their fares waived when traveling to and from participating library branches. Riders must show a valid library card from the Moline, Rock Island, East Moline, or Silvis Libraries to claim the fare waiver.

Summer program highlights for each library are as follows:

East Moline Public Library, Level Up at Your Library!, June 1 to July 31, 2025. This year’s Summer Reading theme is “Level Up at Your Library” and the library will be offering a lot of fun gaming-themed activities throughout the Summer for all ages. Families can pre-register for the Summer Reading Program online through the Beanstack website or by downloading the Beanstack Tracker app. https://eastmolinelib.beanstack.com/reader365 

Moline Public Library, Level Up at Your Library!, June 1 to July 31, 2025. Join the Moline Public Library as we begin our Summer Reading Challenge: Level Up at your Library! We have challenges for all ages with great prizes, and free events featuring award-winning performers all summer long. Rock Island Public Library, Level Up at Your Library this Summer, June 1 to July 31, 2025. All ages summer reading challenge and 150 FREE events. All age levels win prizes for leveling up their reading.  Free events include Shadowland serpents, PowerPoint party for kids, Dragon Training Academy, Family Tie Dye, Petting Zoo in the Park, Library2Go bookmobile stops at Longview Park, weekly afternoon activities for kids, adult lifelong learning, and much more. Silvis Public Library: Level Up at Your Library, June 1-July 31, 2025. Join our summer reading program for prizes at registration, halfway, and grand prizes for completers. Take part in the Genre Badge Challenge to earn badges and an extra grand prize entry by collecting all 10.
